Detailed Information

Flower: composite shape flat cluster
[photo of flower] Flat clusters 2 to 3 inches across made up of numerous ¼-inch white flowers with what appear to be narrow, string-like petals, making it look like a fuzzy cluster.
Leaves and stem: opposite attachment simple type
[photo of leaves] Opposing leaves join around the stem so it appears the stem grows through one large leaf. Leaves are wrinkly, 4 to 8 inches long tapering to a point at the tip; stem is covered in fine hairs.
Notes:
The unusual leaf attachment at the stem makes it fairly easy to identify. Related to Joe Pye Weed; the flowers are similar but Joe Pye Weed has pink flowers and is usually a larger plant.

Please: Do not ask about where to buy seed or other gardening questions, are plants edible, etc. I am not a horticulturist or botanist, just an enthusiastic hobbyist so I probably don't know the answer. Please check the links page for additional resources. -thanks much
